“"How Tangible is Your Love?"”

2 Corinthians 8:22-24

In addition, we are sending with them our brother who has often proved to us in many ways that he is zealous, and now even more so because of his great confidence in you. As for Titus, he is my partner and co-worker among you; as for our brothers, they are representatives of the churches and an honor to Christ. Therefore show these men the proof of your love and the reason for our pride in you, so that the churches can see it.

Thoughts for Today:

I read the story once of a young man who wrote to the love of his life: "I would cross the widest ocean for you; swim the deepest river for you; scale the highest mountain for you; and crawl across the burning sands of the desert -- nothing is too much for you!" Then he added this postscript: "If it doesn't rain, I'll be over to see you on Wednesday night." The same can be true for us as well when our gifts don't match our words.

In our passage today, Paul challenges the Corinthians to prove their love. In other words, if they are sincere followers of Jesus Christ, there will be more than just talking. And giving is a tangible expression of love.

Questions to Ponder:

How tangible is your love? How much did you give on Sunday? What percentage of your income did it represent? I don't want to be legalistic; however, what we give is a pretty good representation of how much we trust God. What does your gift say?
